IPTV Catch-Up: How Replay Through the TV Guide Works

Explore Lounge Team2 min read

Catch-up lets you replay eligible programmes that have already aired, usually by selecting them in the TV guide.

IPTV catch-up is a way to replay an eligible programme after its live broadcast has ended. Instead of waiting for a repeat, you open the electronic programme guide (EPG), move back to a past listing, and select it when replay is offered.

How catch-up is accessed

  1. 1

    Open the TV guide

Open the EPG on your supported TV device and choose the channel you want.

  2. 2

    Move to an earlier listing

Browse back through the schedule to a programme that has already aired.

  3. 3

    Select the programme

If replay is available for that listing, use the on-screen option to start it. Menu labels can vary by app and device.

Explore Lounge offers catch-up through its EPG. The retention period, eligible channels, programmes, and plan availability can vary and are not promised by this guide.

Catch-up, VOD, and recording are different

  • Catch-up replays eligible programmes after their scheduled broadcast.
  • VOD is an on-demand library chosen independently of a live broadcast schedule.
  • Recording creates or saves a copy for later viewing when a service and app support it.

For a fuller explanation of on-demand libraries, see the VOD guide. Recording is a separate feature with its own storage and provider rules; see the recording guide for what to check before relying on it.

If a past listing will not play

First confirm that the listing is shown in the guide, then try another eligible past listing before changing device settings. If the guide itself is empty or frozen, use the guide-loading help instead. A missing replay option can simply mean that the channel or programme is not eligible for catch-up.

Frequently asked questions

Is IPTV catch-up the same as recording?

No. Catch-up replays eligible programmes from a provider's guide. Recording is a separate feature that can involve scheduling and storage.

How long does catch-up last?

The available period varies by provider, channel, programme, and plan. Check the guide or ask the provider about a specific programme.

Does every channel have catch-up?

No universal availability should be assumed. Check the programme in the EPG for a replay option.
